Mission and scope of practice

The mission of the LPCA disaster intervention committee is to establish among members a team of professionals willing to respond to emergency mental health needs in Georgia. The team is comprised of licensed professionals who are willing to provide short-term pro bono services to people affected by natural and man made disasters.

These events are usually unpredictable in terms of timing, severity, character, location, and duration. It is, therefore, essential that there be emphases on preparedness, swift response, and effective communication.

The purpose of the organization is to provide needed services in ways that support other relief efforts and cooperate with existing resources.
