Times-Georgian:  A Carrollton woman has been named the 2018-19 president of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCA-GA).
Lisa King, EdS, LPC, CPCS is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in Carrollton where she works primarily with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse and addiction with teens, young adults and adults.
She is a graduate of the University of West Georgia, with her Bachelor’s (1991) and Master’s (’07) in psychology and a Specialist in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Supervision (’14). She is certified as a clinical trauma counselor and as a clinical supervisor.
LPCA-GA is the state chapter of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, a division of the American Counseling Association. With over 4,000 (editor note: 4,997) members, LPCA is one of the largest Professional Counseling Associations in the United States. For over 30 years, LPCA-GA has been the voice for Licensed Professional Counselors in Georgia, dedicated to the counseling profession and the continuing education and professionalism of counselors, as well as advocacy. The organization provides continuing education, an annual state conference, publications, journals, training and certification for clinical supervisors, national clinical counseling exam prep workshops and state licensure guidance.
LPCA-GA works with the state’s licensing Composite Board and State Legislators to advocate, guide and inform public policy, rules and laws around mental health care and the counseling profession at the local, state and national level.
