Guidelines for Authors


The purpose of the Georgia Journal of Professional Counseling is to share ideas and information that can help professional counselors in all settings. A function of the Journal is to strengthen the bond among members of the Licensed Professional Counselors Associations of Georgia and to help maintain a mutual awareness of the roles, problems, and the progress of the profession at its various levels.


When submitting a manuscript for publication, use the following guidelines:


1. It is recommended that all manuscripts by typed in Microsoft Word, and preferably compatible with MS Software computers and sent to the email address below. Upon acceptance you will be required to submit a ready-for-printing disc copy and a hard copy of your manuscript.

2. Each hard copy manuscript must be typewritten, on eight-and-one-half-by-eleven-inch white paper, double-spaced, with one-inch margins. An original and two copies should be submitted for the review process, if requested and the author should retain a file copy.

3. Before an article can be accepted, a separate sheet must be provided stating the current position and work address of the author(s). (Manuscripts are reviewed anonymously.)

4. References and general manuscript format must follow the style described in the Publications Manual (5th ed.) of the American Psychology Association. Check all references for completeness and accuracy including year, volume number, and pages of journal citations. Consult the APA web site for correct format for electronic references, www.apa.org.

5. Do not submit material that is being considered by another publication.

6. Manuscripts should not exceed 13-15 pages including references, tables, and figures.

7. Each manuscript should include an abstract of not more than 25 words.
