Guidelines for Authors

The purpose of the Georgia Journal of Professional Counseling is to share ideas and information that can help professional counselors in all settings. A function of the Journal is to strengthen the bond among members of the Licensed Professional Counselors Associations of Georgia and to help maintain a mutual awareness of the roles, problems, and the progress of the profession at its various levels.

When submitting a manuscript for publication, use the following guidelines:

1. It is recommended that all manuscripts by typed in Microsoft Word, and compatible with MS Software computers and sent to the email address below.

2. Before an article can be accepted, a separate sheet must be provided stating the current position and work address of the author(s). (Manuscripts are reviewed anonymously.)

3. References and general manuscript format must follow the style described in the Publications Manual (7th ed.) of the American Psychology Association. Check all references for completeness and accuracy including year, volume number, pages of journal citations and doi#s.  Consult the APA web site for correct format for electronic references, www.apa.org.

4. Do not submit material that is being considered by another publication.

5. There is no page limit for submissions.

6. Each manuscript should include an abstract of not more than 25 words.

7.  Submissions should contain no A.I (artificial intelligence) generated material other than graphs. And if A.I. is used it must be noted in the text as "generated by A.I."

8. Submissions take 4-5 weeks to complete the peer-review process.

9.  When submissions have completed the peer-review, the editor will communicate directly with the lead author regarding

questions/issues raised in the peer-review process, changes that might be needed, and a decision whether or not to publish will be made.
