LPC Day at the State Capitol
March 5, 2026
Mark Your Calendar Now
What is it? LPC Day at the Capitol is a vital opportunity for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) to gather at Georgia’s State Capitol and advocate for our profession.
When? We will meet at the Capitol building South Stairs on March 5th beginning at 8:30AM-9:15PM and concluding around 12:00PM.
Why is it important? LPCs are one of the newer mental health professions in Georgia. We are still working for you and your qualifications to be recognized by our government and in our laws. LPC Day is a chance to meet the people you vote for and with, let them know who you are, what you do, why it matters, and why they should vote for you and your profession, too.
Why stay for the picture? This is your chance to stand with your fellow LPCs and be photographed with the Governor on the historic Capitol steps. This powerful image will highlight the strength, unity, and importance of professional counselors across the state. It’s not just a photo op. It's a symbol of our collective impact on Georgia’s mental health care system.
Who should come? You! Current counselors, associate counselors, counseling students, interns, retired counselors, mental health workers and advocates. Everyone is welcome. Come represent your profession!
Where?
State Capitol, 206 Washington St SW Atlanta, GA. Inside the Capitol Building at the South Stairs. The South Stairs will have LPCA tables, the North Stairs has a pink bust of James Oglethorpe.

Know Before You Go
Location & Parking: The event will take place in Downtown Atlanta, and parking may be challenging. Please refer to the LPCA Transportation Guide on this page below, which lists nearby parking lots and MARTA stations. Keep in mind that parking or riding MARTA could involve a long walk outside, so plan accordingly.
Weather: It may be warm or cool outside, but please be aware that the inside of the Capitol can get warm with many people moving around. We recommend dressing in layers, but please note that there is no hat or coat check available, so you may have to carry your belongings for an extended period of time.
Security: You MUST bring a valid photo ID for entrance. There is only one entrance to the Capitol Building for security reasons, and a line will form outside of the doors as attendees are screened. Please be prepared for a wait outside of the doors. Additionally, there will be no signage allowed inside the building.
Event Location: Once inside the Capitol, make your way to the second floor near the south stairs for the event (Note: The North and South Stairs look very similar, however the North stairs have a statue of Oglethorpe. Please look for the stairs that do NOT have this statue).
Restrooms: Once you pass through security, turn right, then take the first left. Restrooms will be on your left.
Food & Water: There will be VERY limited food and beverage availability inside the Capitol, so we recommend bringing your own snacks and water.
