Dr. Suneetha Manyam

Suneetha B Manyam, PhD, LPC, CPCS, CRC, BC-TMH is a tenured professor at Mercer University in the Department of Counseling. As a counselor educator, she has been training and supervising the future counselors for the past 17+years. She actively engages in scholarly research in the areas of counselor wellness, mindfulness techniques, trauma healing, microagressions, and multicultural advocacy. As a licensed clinician, Dr. Manyam is serving couples, families and clients from 5-75 years in the areas of anxiety, stress management, trauma, grief, acculturation issues for the last two decades. As a president-elect for the LPCAGA, Dr. Manyam thrives for the advancement of our esteemed profession with a special focus on social advocacy and professional identity of the Counselors , Educators and Supervisors. 

Dr. Tonja Simmons Lee

PhD, LPC, NCC, CPCS

Dr. Simmons Lee, a licensed professional with more than 20 years of counseling, coaching, and leadership experience, is trained to help with reflection, support, and solutions. Dr. Lee developed a counseling program for students and faculty. She directs the day-to-day operations of the college's critical office, the counseling center. Designed to support student, faculty, and staff well-being, Counseling Services and its Counseling Resource Center provide counseling, assistance, and guidance in resolving personal, social, or psychological problems and difficulties. The Georgia College Counseling Association recently named Tonja Simmons Lee, CGTC’s Counseling Services executive director, its 2020 College Counseling Director of the Year.

Dr. David Markwell

PhD, LPC, LCMHC, NCC, ACS, CPCS, CART, BC-TMH, EAS-C

David Markwell is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC). He is licensed in Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina. He also holds the counseling compact privilege to practice in Ohio. He has counseling offices in Marietta, East Cobb (Marietta) and McCaysville Georgia.

He is a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider (BC-TMH); a Registered Telemental Health Provider in Florida, a Professional Counselor Telehealth Providerin South Carolina, and an Approved Telesupervisor (ATS).

As a supervisor he holds the Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) credentials. He is the former Clinical Supervision Chair for the LPCA (Licensed Professional Counselors Association) of Georgia. He also served as the President of the LPCA of Georgia 2023-2024. Dr. Denice Adcock Colson

PhD, LPC, MAC, CPCS, CCS, DAAETS

Dr. Denice Adcock Colson, PhD, LPC, MAC, CPCS, CCS, DAAETS , has worked in the counseling field since 1982, bringing more than four decades of clinical, supervisory, and training experience to her practice. Her background includes residential treatment with adolescents, inpatient care with children and adults, and outpatient practice, and since 1992 her clinical specialty has centered on trauma and addiction recovery.

She holds a Ph.D. in Christian Counseling and Spiritual Direction and an M.S. in Community Counseling, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Georgia. She also holds national certification as a Master Addiction Counselor (NAADAC) and as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (GACA). Dr. Colson serves as Clinical Director of Eagle’s Landing Christian Counseling Center, Inc., which she helped found and previously led as Executive Director, and is the founder of Center for Trauma Education & Spiritual Formation, LLC, through which she provides training and consultation on trauma focused clinical practice. Click button below to see more.

Dr. David Lane

PhD, M.Ed., LPC, LMFT, CPCS

W. David Lane is Professor, Department of Counseling, College of Professional Advancement at Mercer University, and is the founding faculty member of the Counseling Program at Mercer University in Atlanta. He earned the Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Troy State University in 1976, the Master of Education degree in Counseling from Georgia State University in 1981, and the Ph.D. in Counseling from Georgia State University in 1992 and has over 49 years of experience as a counselor, counselor educator, and supervisor. Prior to his teaching career, he worked from 1976-1991 in psychiatric hospitals and residential treatment with children, teens, and their families. David is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor, a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor, and a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists. He has been a counselor supervisor for 35 years. He is in 32nd year at Mercer University. 

He served for twelve years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia, was Ethics chair for six years, Editor of the Georgia Journal of Professional Counseling for ten years and worked with LPCA-GA to create the Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) credential. Dr. Gregory K. Moffatt

PhD, LPC, CPCS

Gregory K. Moffatt, Ph.D., is the Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Point University (ret,), Professor of Counseling Psychology at Point University, adjunct professor at Liberty University, published author, licensed counselor, former columnist for ACA's Counseling Today, and public speaker.

Dr. Moffatt served for nearly ten years as a regular lecturer at the FBI Academy, a profiler with the Atlanta Cold Case Squad, and consultant to numerous airlines, businesses, and schools. He has appeared on ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX news, as well as America's Most Wanted and international television. He has served as personal consultant to Tyler Perry for the movie Alex Cross, consultant to producers for the movie Head Full Of Ghosts, and most recently he can be seen on the Discovery Channel series Hostage. 

He holds an M.A. in Counseling and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Georgia State University. He is a licensed professional counselor, certified professional counselor supervisor (CPCS), and has taught at the college level for over 40 years. He is the editor of the Georgia Journal of Professional Counseling and in February of 2022, Governor Kemp appointed Dr. Moffatt to the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists. He was reappointed to the Board by the governor in 2025.
